Lindsay’s explanation of his approach to hypnotherapy is that he uses the vast storehouse of unconscious abilities to help people resolve their past issues and go forward in life.
“Hypnotherapy can help resolve your personal and relationship problems resulting from unresolved childhood issues”, said Lindsay.
“The wounds from our childhood contaminate our lives with insecurities, loneliness, marital problems, addictions, toxic parenting and damaging and painful relationships.
“Our ego defences come from early emotional pain, often numbed and inhibited.
“We repeatedly act our unresolved issues out or project them on to others.
“Since we can’t feel this unfinished business, it expresses itself in behaviour such as workaholism, alcoholism, being people pleasers, high achievers, victims, rebellious or promiscuous, re-enacting the trauma we received onto others.
“Our aim is to finish our unresolved grief from childhood, grief resulting from abandonment, abuse in all forms, the neglect of childhood development dependency needs and the enmeshments that result from family system dysfunction,” he said.
“It is as if we grow up physically and mentally, but emotionally we are like little children striving to get our emotional needs met through perhaps comfort eating, taking our partners prisoner, or developing addictions.
“How many of us can relate to a partner that seems to act childlike in the relationship?
“Sometimes when we look at our lives we can see patterns where we keep going back and repeating the same destructive behaviour. Until we can learn from the experience and integrate changes and beliefs relevant to our present lives, we have no option but to repeat the past.”
