Stop Smoking
Dear Lindsay,
I became a smoker in the summer of 1967. The first cigarette made me very ill and yet for some unexplainable reason I picked up another… and another… and another… For nearly thirty years I was a heavy (20 to 30 per day) smoker. Although I tried giving them up, cold turkey, on several occasions, I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I would be a smoker for life.
Then, one day in October 1997, I drove my wife to an appointment with her masseuse. While waiting for her I saw your literature on hypnosis as a means of becoming a non-smoker. When my wife came out from her massage I mentioned the hypnosis to her and she said “why don’t you make an appointment?” I decided I had nothing to lose and so I went to the reception counter and made an appointment for the following Tuesday evening.
I did not have a lot of faith in your ability to undue a 30-year habit but I showed up at my appointed time, crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. About 45 minutes later I was finished and when my wife asked me how it went I said that it was very interesting but I wasn;t really sure that I had actually been hypnotised.
I was therefore very surprised while having my coffee the next morning when I realised that I had no desire to light up a cigarette. I was again surprised at lunchtime when I didn’t feel a need to dash outside after having a sandwich for a smoke. These surprises continued day after day until I finally came to the realisation that i am a Non-Smoker!. It is nearly 10 months since I came to see you. Not only have I not had a cigarette in that time, but I have not even had an urge to have a cigarette. Giving up smoking has been the easiest thing I have ever done. There is no doubt in my mind that I will never be a smoker again – thank you!
Yours Faithfully
Tom M
